Small sign about bats

Thought I should add - If you look through the album, I've uploaded photos of every single exhibit and building, along with every species sign, many other signs, and most of the major walkways.

@Jake Why? The only questionable thing in this bat explanation is the phrase "they consume an enormous number of pests" (when in Earth will mankind stop asocciating "insects" with "pests" please???????????). Is this what is worrying you?

@Kakapo While I agree with your point of "insects do not equal pests" you have to remember that sometimes, insects are pests. By saying that "bats eat pests", they are encouraging people to like bats. If the sign said "bats eat insects", anybody who read the sign would think "Who cares?". This way, people think "Bats eat pests? Great!".

@Kakapo, the sign is is an area where bats don’t live in the zoo. There are more signs like this one a little further back in the thread.

Ah yes, I understand your point of view, tough educative signage about species not displayed in zoos are something common. Usually they are somewhat related, for example, the penguin house in Faunia have educative displays about alcids (the "penguins" of north hemisphere), or the Rimba section of Burgers zoo have pannels about south-east Asian wildlife including pictures of a saola, for example. But maybe, a bat explanation in a deer/wolf exhibit is really out of place.
