@WhistlingKite24 I find the smaller regional zoo are much more progressive than the bigger state controlled zoos in time I believe zoos like Altina, Darling Downs zoo, Mogo, and others will shine more and have outstanding collections

It will be interesting to see the public zoo’s reaction as these private zoos overtake them.

In some areas they already have (groups such as tamarins/marmosets, agoutis and tortoises come to mind).

Thats great! Some of the species that they do have are rarely found in the public zoos.

The development that is going on in the private zoos recently astounds me on how they look into the future. The amount of new species they import and the new developments and exhibits at the zoos.

A thought that comes to mind, is that the public zoo’s are helping the private zoo’s by sending there animals to the private zoos lately to Mogo and Taronga for example. Over the last couple of years Taronga has sent its pair of orangutans and its troop of six (now four) gorillas to Mogo expanding Mogo’s collection.

@WhistlingKite24 When one can see the number of species that have been and are being phased out from the major zoos its not going to be that hard to over take in the number of species being kept in the smaller zoos

@WhistlingKite24 Not to mention the ten Zebras imported from the USA not long ago!

How many yards did you see for her when you took the pics?

@Zorro I believe it was one large yard with a series of fences, an indoor viewing area with a pool, and a small outdoor pool (memory is a bit faint now).
