There aren't a lot of trees in most of Mongolia, so the birds tend to nest on the ground or on rock piles, as here. The bird against the sky is a young one which hasn't left the nest yet, while one of the adults is to the right.

Cinereous Vultures are absolutely massive birds. They look like barn doors when gliding overhead. It is difficult to get a sense of scale in a fairly featureless landscape, and the first ones I saw - sitting on a far hillside at Hustai National Park - I thought were deer at first!
