The zoo has two still I believe, off exhibit. I saw them during a special presentation when I was there with a group from Turtle Bay Exploration Park. My understanding is they do occasionally use them in their animal show and bring them out on the reptile house lawn.
Cool. If I were the zoo, I'd build some outdoor habitats for the animals ambassadors on the lawn because a) I don't think the zoos uses it for big events like they use to (I could be wrong) and b) it'd allow guests to see some of the animals that'd otherwise be behind-the-scenes and never see, like the bobcat, kinkajou, and, of course, armadillos.
True, though you can sort of see the few outdoor areas behind the theater. Agree it would be nice to see those animals on a regular basis, but I doubt the zoo would. Very few places have their ambassador animals on display.
In my opinion, they could rotate their show selections more. The couple times I've seen it they were basically the same animals... Have you found the same?
(Not to make you jealous, but I have seen nearly all of Sac Zoo's ambassador animals... curious to know if you've managed to see most of them?)
"Not to make you jealous..." Too late, I'm jealous. Unfortunately I haven't seen most of them. In fact the only mammal I've seen is the African hedgehog, and I only just saw that on my most recent visit. Here are the ones I remembering seeing at one point or another: bateleur eagle, blue-and-gold macaw, hedgehog, one of the two hawks (I don't remember which one), pancake tortoise, and rainbow boa. I haven't seen any others (I'm not including the bats since they were on exhibit until very recently). However, I hope to be able to start volunteering this year, and if that happens, I'm sure I'll see more. But also yes I hve found the same about similar shows
