Looks like you had a great trip to Madagascar, with very special birds spotted, including these odd Gruiformes that looks like more passerines than whatever It's has been always a dreamed species for me (I've seen mesites only in museums, but it was another species). Did you see any Blue vanga (my favourite of all the Madagascan birds)?
@Kakapo As you are probably aware, nobody currently regards them as Gruiforms, genetic genomewide research has comfortably placed them as closely related to Pigeons. I saw only 1 Madagascar blue vanga, but that is an amazing species indeed. I still missed quite some endemic birds, most notably Nuthatch and Helmet vanga, so enough reason to go back
@Chlidonias They are very weird, but good looking. The Brown mesite looks very different and is more of a pigeon-chicken
Nobody, except the whole world
Wow, so you saw this mythical species!!! I absolutely love it (over any other vanga). Was you able to take pics of it?
One never can fulfill the whole endemic species list on a travel, but if you have enough money for return, go for it and visit those zones that you missed in the first trip for sure you will enjoy a lot!
