The roof of the shelter is well-used as a perching (and pooping) area by mainly the ibisses and spoonbills in the aviary, which is also called the Puna aviary by GaiaZoo.
Species list of the Amazonia/Puna aviary:
- Puna ibis (Plegadis ridgwayi)
- Roseate spoonbill (Platalea ajaja)
- Scarlet ibis (Eudocimus ruber)
- Bahama pintail or white-cheeked pintail (Anas bahamensis)
- Sunbittern (Eurypyga helias)
- Chaco chachalaca (Ortalis canicollis)
- Venezuelan blue-throated piping-guan (Pipile cumanensis cumanensis)
- Picazuro pigeon (Patagioenas picazuro)
- Western cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis ibis)
- Fulvous whistling duck (Dendrocygna bicolor)
- Red-shouldered teal (Callonetta leucophrys)
