I visited this wildlife park in 2007 on my honeymoon (I saw 14 Aussie zoos/aquariums during my 6 weeks around the continent) and I'm tempted to call the facility world-class. The nocturnal house is the largest in the southern hemisphere and while I cannot recall the list of species needless to say there are many that perhaps are found nowhere else outside of Australia. The entire establishment, from the display of indigenous wildlife to the hiring of local Aborigines to the layout of the exhibits is hugely impressive. It is similar to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in that there is a very specific focus and I'd go back in a second. Unfortunately it is one of the most remote locations on the globe but the allure of both Uluru (the planet's largest rock) and Kings Canyon make Alice Springs a nice starting point to tour Australia's inland desert.
