@littleRedPanda I've taken a look. The outside cages aren't that awful - not nearly as awful as the indoor "housing", but certainly not the greatest either. Most of the chimpanzee exhibits I've seen were certainly better.
@KevinB It'd be interesting to know how much time their apes spend outdoors in the Welsh climate compared to zoos with 'better' indoor facilities. I just noticed the leaflet I picked up says "All money, gratefully received, goes directly to the care of the animals, including heated sleeping quarters ....." so I expect they are not immediately visible.
