Unfortunately it seems like the successful Kordofan giraffe breeding at Planckendael will be halted for a while as I have heard the breeding bull, Saleye, sadly recently passed away during a medical/surgical procedure.
There's just a few words I wanted to say and I'm not sure exactly where to do it, so I guess this place will just have to do.
I know I have kind of ground to a halt over the last few weeks with regards to posting zoo pictures, after having been very actively doing so for several months.
I have been suffering from physical and mental fatigue and a lack of energy lately and between working and trying to rest and relax, I just couldn't get to selecting, editing and posting pictures and doing research until the last couple of days.
I have decided that perhaps it would be useful to try and cut up large tasks (like sifting through large amounts of pictures from zoo visits) into smaller tasks, and hence I have decided to for now at least select some nice animal pictures from the visits I have already done in 2019 (Planckendael twice, Antwerp once) and share them with you, hopefully to your enjoyment.
I know not all of these shots are as good as perhaps they ought to be, but there's a few in here that I am rather happy with and that I really wanted to share, so I did.
I still plan on posting more exhibit photos from my local zoos in the future, if I can manage, but I will most certainly try. I am also still working on an extensive photographic and textual review (as I have done before) of Mondo Verde in Landgraaf, the Netherlands and I have gotten relatively far with that one, so I hope to be able to post something of that fairly soon.
@KevinB Your contribution on this site is very much valued. I always enjoy viewing your photos (which are always of a very high-quality).
I hope you can continue on ZooChat and hope you feel better soon.
Unfortunately this is not a short-term thing or something that is really going to go away, it is going to be something that will continue to ebb and flow in ways I cannot really predict. All I can really do is get through the bad episodes, like I had recently, the best I can and make use of the good episodes without overdoing things.
I am definitely going to continue contributing on ZooChat, there is zero doubt about that for me - my participation will just have to be intermittent and irregular to a degree.
I'm glad you guys also like my pictures and think they are of high quality. I don't always feel that way, maybe I'm just a bit too perfectionist and hard on myself in that respect.
