This photograph is in the Cotton Terraces where the okapi, zebras and pygmy hippos are currently found. Not sure when the tapirs moved from there to the Casson, where they are now, but it was a good few years ago. (The Cotton Terrace indoors are all open and accessible at present)
The Casson was open up until last year, but hasn't been open on my last few visits. Sad to hear the female has died, I would hate for ZSL to go out of Malayan tapirs, but they really don't seem to be settled in such a busy zoo, at least in their current enclosure. In the last five years I've seen them in the outside Casson enclosure exactly twice, and that was when they were shut out for the indoor areas to be cleaned.
Looking though the older photos in the gallery, I happened to come across this one, showing what was the Malayan tapir enclosure on the Cotton Terrace, which is now the Pygmy Hippo enclosure
