The Sandy Shore Aviary is the walk-through aviary home to a variety of coastal birds and various fishes. 9/29/2018
I was hoping that maybe some of this website's expert birders could help me identify the avains in this video. Some are obvious and I was able to get myself, like bufflehead duck and black-necked stilt, but as I'm not an experienced birder, others gave me trouble. I've decided to make a life list of all the birds I've seen so I was hoping to add the birds I recorded in this video. (I'd also like to apologize for my annoying voice)

Cast (in order of appearance):
  1. Bufflehead Bucephala albeola
  2. Marbled Godwit Limosa fedoa
  3. Not sure what those little birds in the middle are
  4. American Avocet Recurvirostra americana
  5. Black-Necked Stilt Himantopus mexicanus
  6. Red-Necked Phalarope Phalaropus lobatus
  7. Dunlin Calidris alpina
  8. Some sandpipers in the back, too far back to ID
  9. Black-Bellied Plover Pluvialis squatarola
  10. Willet Tringa semipalmata
  11. Some little plover in front, unsure of ID
  12. Killdeer Charadrius vociferus

Other species seen in the video but not yet mentioned:

Black Oystercatcher (Haematopus bachmani)
Red Phalarope (Phalaropus fulicarius)
Red Knot (Calidris canutus)
Sanderling (Calidris alba)
Least Sandpiper (Calidris minutilla)
Snowy Plover (Charadrius nivosus) (@birdsandbats unsure plover)

I will be visiting the aquarium next week and can provide an updated list for the aviary if anyone is interested.

@Great Argus Thanks and I'd be interested to see if anything has changed. Will this be your first time visiting this aquarium? (I assume not since you seem to live in the area but I am just wondering). On a side note I decided to give up on the bird species list as I began to realize the shear number of birds I've seen and, how compared to some of the people on hear, I suck at bird identification. I do however plan on keeping my mammal species list going.

@Hipporex You're welcome, and I'll let you know. First time in several years, but I've been several times. (I live about 2.5 hours from you, since you live in Sac. ;)) I can understand that, and sandpipers can be confusing! Keep trying though!
