Weltvogelpark Walsrode got 3 ducks that looks like this, and I cannot understand what they are?
When I asked on Facebook I got different suggestions but most said it could be some kind of hybrid.
What do you guys think? What are they?
Photo taken March 24 2019 so they should be fully feathered and not in eclipse.
(I saw similar birds in the same aviary in September 2018)
Probably an hybrid, but with very strong and evident traits of Spectacled eider (Somateria fischeri). Not sure about what the other parent can be, maybe a scoter?
@Kakapo Yeah it seems to be likely a hybrid between Spectacled eider and some kind of scoter, we are discussing it more here: Unidentified, ID help. | ZooChat
