This house has been tarted up, relatively recently. Much of the change is superficial: the wooden barriers, and, I think, the rock work that has been enthusiastically slathered around the building. The Gelada paddock, on the left, seems unchanged; the big cage, on the right, was for Patas Monkeys, and is now for various South Americans. Thus, the African integrity of the building is lost. Not sure whether this matters. Possibly. The cages no longer seem quite so functional as was once the case (although the changes are not massive). A few tanks for reptiles and amphibians have appeared in the middle of the house. The loos have got a garish paint job. Progress.... maybe.
