Red-necked ostrich and Herring gull, April 2019

This gull replaced another that was sitting on the ostrich's back. When the ostrich finished feeding, it jumped into the trough and helped itself. I haven't noticed (or looked out for) gulls taking the ostrich food before - maybe they can only get to it by using an ostrich as a launching pad.

It's wild. The zoo is near the sea so there are hundreds of gulls around getting easy meals from both animals and visitors.
