I also saw a few individuals in other places, but they gather here for some reason. I counted maybe 30 from the bridge. It has become a tourist attraction as the bridge is on a main route from San Jose to a lot of other places in CR. Most people just stop here en route to somewhere and take a few pics from the bridge. There is some cafes, souvenir shops, loos, etc there too.
The (riverbanks of the) Río Tárcoles are not only great for seeing crocodiles, but also one of the best locations in Costa Rica I've been to for spotting wildlife in general.
