Does anyone know how many Polar Bears the zoo currently has? When I saw this world-class exhibit complex last summer the zoo had 11 bears...is it the same now? The cool thing is that ALL of the bears were on exhibit at the same time, but just spread out through all of the various habitats.

Hi Snowleopard, wondering if you happened to ask, are the bears rotated through the exhibits? What sorts of enrichment did you see?

@zooman I read a report on Assiniboine Park Zoo that stated there was at least 7 bears all together in the large main habitat. When I visited there were younger bears in older grottoes down a side path, but there was a lot of enrichment in terms of boomer balls and human-made materials. I didn't see any stereotypy anywhere. My understanding is that the bears are rotated through the exhibits, but the zoo does appear to want to keep as many bears together in the big main habitat as possible.
