@Sarus Crane Interestingly, George would probably have large and nice tusks, but Calvin had no tusks at all. Calvin died in 2015 at Ostrava Zoo at the age of 29 due to an incurable foot abuse. He was one of the best breeding bulls in the world.
@felis silvestris I wouldn't say holding a bullhook is inherently a bad thing. The function of a bullhook is presumably predominantly as a deterrent in case the elephant gets aggressive - which wouldn't be too out of the question given the elephant on the left is a young bull. Bullhooks have been used as a sort of 'punishment' to facilitate training of elephants in circuses, but just because the man is holding one, it doesn't mean its function is to hurt the elephant or that this zoo is unethical in that respect.
