The following amphibians were on-show; Alpine Newt (Ichthyosaura alpestris alpestris)
Fire Salamander (Salamandra salamandra) Yellow-bellied Toad (Bombina variegata)
Great Crested Newt (Triturus cristatus) European Tree Frog (Hyla arborea)
Smooth Newt (Lissotriton vulgaris vulgaris) Marsh Frog (Pelophylax ridibundus)
All of them besides the alpine newt, which was located within the Terrarium, were in the Aqua-terrarium.
Alpenzoo is definitely among my favourite/the best zoos I have visited*, although I have visited relatively few zoos of much note. The majority of the animals were displayed to a high standard, with many of the enclosures being visually very appealing. It is certainly a zoo that one should go out of their way to see.
I visited this zoo whilst on a family holiday, so the main objective was seeing the scenery and walking, therefore this was the only zoo I visited.
*my rankings change often, but I think it would make the top four alongside Chester, Basel and Highland Wildlife Park.
