Part of the lion exhibit for 1.3 African lions. Quite nice except for the hiddeous black fencing.

I agree Batto. You'd think the money they spent could have been done better simply redeveloping the old site, instead of demolishing it and building it from scratch which has, from these photo's, disappointed me.

On the whole I quite like the look of the new zoo. It clearly needs time for the planting to really establish but on the whole I find it quite aesthetically pleasing.

The big black fences really take away from what we all think about when we think of Paris Zoo!

African lions. How disappointing.
They should have introduced Asian subspecies rather than useless African crossbreeds.
Or neuter the male so he won't produce more bastards.

Providing they do not breed, I see no problem! There needs to be places to hold these zoo animals until they can die off and be replaced by Indian Lions!

That does give the indication that they intend to breed. Hopefully they do not, though!

Even if they don't, they block an exhibit for 20 years for pure ones.

Right. African Lions have declined seriously in the wild in recent years, while Asian have maintained their (admittedly small) numbers. Let's not be too PC about generic African Lions, which are a lot better than nothing.
