One of the predatory substrate-spawning cichlids from Lake Tanganyika. It is very protective of its eggs and fry - there were a lot of fry in their tank.
I have never been able to tell the difference between L. kendalli and L. nkambae, but I don't think I am alone. The ZSL Stocklist names these fishes as kendalli, but the label on the tank says nkambae.
Correction The ZSL stocklist says Lepidiolamprologus species. It is Zootierliste that says L. kendalli - possibly in error but possibly correctly, or possibly these names are synonymous
