Future Tiger Exhibit

July 23rd, 2019
Funny fact about this exhibit: it was actually first constructed in 2009 to house a female African elephant named Lucky, a former circus animal. She however I believe never truly occupied the exhibit as the zoo had to rehome her to a zoo in Italy as they couldn't find another African elephant at the time and it is illegal here to keep elephants alone.

Olmen did finally acquire two elephants (also ex-circus I believe) in 2012 in the current exhibit.

The exhibit then housed a small group of American wood bison until this spring. The American wood bison now live in a wooden area near the African savanna exhibit and the Hudson Bay wolf exhibit.

I personally do hope that the tiger exhibit at this location will be better than the current tiger exhibits, because those are barely adequate but far from great.
