African Crested Porcupine enclosure - 11 August 2019

  • Media owner Macaw16
  • Date added
11 August 2019, at Lotherton Hall. Housing Hystrix cristata, this aviary has previously held a number of species including Laughing Kookaburra, Senegal Parrot, Common Bronzewing, Giant Wood Rail, and Australian Ibis.

I hope this is just a temporary arrangement. This a large planted aviary which could hold a nice flock of birds, although it may need some renovation. The porcupines only need a walled enclosure with a secure shelter - so I hope there are plans to build something like this elsewhere in the collection.
