This was probably the late 1980s when the breeding pair of giraffes was regularly having babies. The elephant exhibit is on the other side of those bushes. The fence and bushes have since been removed, and the former elephant space is now part of the giraffe yard. The elephant barn was approximately where the giraffe deck is now.
The last elephant left the zoo in 1991 and went to the Detroit Zoo.
