Sitatunga : Whipsnade : 15 Sep 2019

Tragelaphus spekii gratus. Forest sitatunga, Congo sitatunga. Pond, Spicer's Field (formerly held Whooper swans).
I thought I'd hang around by the pond in Spicer's field, just to see if any of the sitatunga, several of which were resting up in the adjacent scrub/woodland, would enter the shallow pool to which they now have access.

My patience was rewarded: after about 20 minutes, first one, then eventually four, waded into the pool and spent an hour or so there, attracting a steady stream of admirers.
