This photo is intended to illustrate that even though Guangzhou has these awful old cages, they can be considered a sort of perverse strength in that they show the history in comparison to the much better adjacent exhibits, and also allow an outdoor space to tigers that would otherwise be rotating through the main exhibit. (It's not uncommon for Chinese zoos to have quite a lot of tigers)
