It is the feeding station for the leaf cutter ants. It is connected to the ant's nest, housed in the wooden structure to the left, via the long plastic tubing.
@Benosaurus Thanks for the information. Actually quite an interesting contrast between the two exhibits , kind of a strange place for it though , but certainly allows for the visitor to compare animal evolution and life forms.
