Gorilla "Kumbuka"; London Zoo, 22nd October 2019

Great photo of Kumbuka, very sad to hear he died yesterday.

Indeed; extremely sad news.
When I took this photo on Tuesday, I never expected he would be dead a few days later.

I did think when I first saw this photo that he didn't quite look himself, something about his face..... But then I haven't seen him since 2016.

I took this photo on the day the London Zoo Aquarium closed; the main purpose of my visit was to see the aquarium one last time.

I only saw "Kumbuka" for a few moments as I walked past the gorillas on my way to the aquarium. I didn't stop to watch him for long so, although he appeared less active than normal, I didn't appreciate anything was wrong. I certainly didn't realise that I'd never see him again.

A handsome boy, so very sad knowing he is no longer around
