@Luke da Zoo nerd
Definitely fake - actually these are painted metal poles made to look like bamboo, serving I guess as additional fencing in case any of the animals were to try and cross the moat.
@DelacoursLangur The metal bamboo poles are a bit strange, yes, and aesthetically not the best choice in my opinion, but aside from that I think the exhibit isn't all that strange and fairly decent.
@KevinB I dunno it just seems weirdly done, bharal are an alpine species so they decide to make a small rock pile, yet aside from some bamboo the rest is a grassy lawn with fake houses standing in it and no attempt at continuing the rocky theme.
@DelacoursLangur I guess an enclosure like the golden takin yard would probably be more appropriate for the bharal, but I don't think their current housing is substandard.
It is a rather odd combination. I visited that part of the zoo several times during my 2 days at PrDz, but I never saw the binturongs: which did not surprise me, I rarely see binturongs anywhere.
@gentle lemur I didn't see any binturongs at Pairi Daiza either - and I agree with you that they don't always show themselves. Then again they are mostly nocturnal so that isn't entirely surprising.
