@UngulateNerd92 I agree and I was actually thinking the same thing, but didn't mention it. However given that the other animal did look like a pure golden takin and that ZTL only listed golden, and that I did find some images of golden takins online that looked a lot like this animal, I assumed this individual to be a golden takin as well.
Perhaps there has been some mixture between captive specimens of different takin subspecies in the past resulting in some phenotypical blending?
@KevinB All golden takin in Europe come from one single pair from Chinese zoos. In Europe this lineage has not been mixed with the other subspecies, but wether or not any mixing at all in China has ever happened is unknown to me. It might also be the result of inbreeding maybe.
