Giraffes house - savanna monitor enclosure

The african savanna was opened in 2001. The mixed species are : a bachelor group of giraffes, common zebras, common ostriches, southern lechwes and grey-crowned cranes. Like for the elephants, the visitors can discover other african species in the giraffes house.

I'm always fascinated by what can be found in giraffe houses, as there seems to be a hodge-podge of critters that often cannot find homes elsewhere in the zoo. A savanna monitor is somewhat appropriate but at Louisville Zoo in the state of Kentucky there are Steller's sea eagles in the giraffe house!
