Msaka lives alone in this exhibit, which overlooks the savannah.
Msaka was born 23/05/2011 at Perth Zoo and arrived at Hamilton Zoo 07/10/2015 with her sister, Tafari (now deceased). It was intended for Msaka to breed with the zoo’s male dog, Zumo (also now deceased); but Msaka had to be speyed following a uterine infection.
@Tafin I don’t believe so, no. An intro would be complicated by the fact Msaka is not coming on heat and at nearly nine years old, Msaka is considered elderly for a species that lives to around 10 years in captivity. I really hope they import a new female to integrate with the two males (born 2012) before they’re too old. Importing a female from Orana’s pack appears the best option.
