Polar Bear (Ursus maritimus)

It's inspiring how well they can accommodate this Arctic species in Brisbane. I wish Auckland Zoo had taken the Commonwealth Games committee up on the offer of the polar bear cubs in the 1980s. If they'd had young bears when the exhibit had reached the end of its lifespan, it might have been a reason to build a world class exhibit like this. Probably not though, given zoos tendency to phase out anything too awesome.

@Zoofan15 Is it a world-class exhibit? I'm not sure it would be considered so in Europe today.
(Although it does have shades of Copenhagen's Arctic Ring)

@Zoofan15 I guess it's just a semantic point that isn't worth hounding, but there's a lot of difference between 'not bad' and 'world-class'.
