That one was about 2.5 metres away when I took the photo, but the female came right up to me. Although they are wild, they are fed regularly and come right up to the tourists. I wasn't feeding them, and they left once they saw I had no food.

And they were much smaller than I expected too - about half to three-quarters the size of a Yellow-footed Rock Wallaby.

@Hix Have you seen the allied rock wallabies on Magnetic Island? It sounds like a similar situation. They come down to the edge of the path looking for a feed but head off quickly if there's nothing up for grabs.
 
Nup, haven't been to Magnetic. On my list of places in Australia to visit, though.
