This south-american themed aviary, called « Iguazu Park », opened in 2010. Visitors walk on a bridge inside the aviary and can see different species of birds and primates living around exotic plants, artificial rocks, a large pool and a small waterfall. Here live flamingos, scarlet ibis, sun parakeets, white-faced sakis and golden-headed lion tamarins.

Two questions:
1/ That looks like flexible string type netting on the top, as opposed to wire. Do the parrakeets ever chew through it, as I would imagine they could easily do? Or is there so much vegetation to nibble, that they never think of attacking the netting?
2/ Are those ducks on the water? If so, what species?

For now, there has never had any problems with the net because there are not many parrots. But in the future, the park wants to put macaws in the aviary, then maybe there will be trouble ...

The ducks are wood duks (Aix sponsa)

;)

Thank you Maxime. Nice aviary, but Wood Ducks are North American. Macaws would almost certainly be out of there, and make a big enough hole for other stock to follow.
