Baboon Troop with Baby - Auckland Zoo April 2011

Auckland Zoo April 2011.

The new baby, just visible in his mothers arms, was born a week before this photo was taken. Her first son born at Auckland is on the left, then the mother and baby, with the other adult female on the right. There are also two adult males in the enclosure.

Unyazi is gonna be interesting to watch with his young half-brother. I suspect he wont appreciate sharing the attention with Sekani.

So this means that one of the Adelaide boys sired this youngster.

Which ex-Auckland male sired the older youngster that featured on 'The Zoo' TV program (presumably also in this picture)?

I guess you meant Ex-Adelaide?

The father of this most recent baby was the male Afar, and there is conflicting information on the father of the first baboon born in this thread http://www.zoochat.com/17/auckland-zoo-news-2011-a-211839/.

oh ahah yes your right. woops. late night. I meant Yafeu. Mental moment

Sekani sadly died when he was a few weeks old of a spinal injury. It’s likely he sustained this from either Yafeu; or one of the adult males. Ayisha went on to have two more successful infants (both female) in 2013 and 2015.
