Bizarrely, I just googled about this and there are several websites saying that the Australian Bustard is also called the Kori Bustard, and claiming that the Australian Bustard has both scientific names (A. australis and A. kori). I thought perhaps australis used to be treated as a subspecies of kori (although I had never heard of such an arrangement) but the synomyms I can find have it as always being australis, australasianus or novaehollandiae (and with various changes of genera [Otis, Choriotis and Austrotis]).
