Masked Booby, juvenile - 1987

@Hix - this appears to be a juvenile Masked Booby.

Apparently in the 1970s and 80s in Hawaii the Masked Booby was known as the Blue-faced Booby, and the Sea Life Park was definitely calling them Blue-faced Boobies (from papers online).

Perhaps there was a typo in your notes?

Most likely. I wasn't much into boobies back then, otherwise I would have thought it was a brown booby.

I don't suppose you have any photos of adult Masked Boobies? There are none in the galleries (apart for one museum specimen).

No - never seen one in the wild or captivity.
