Wallaby Trail - Morepork exhibit

Formerly housing Australian pythons, this exhibit now houses a pair of Morepork owls relocated from Jurong Bird Park. Interestingly the exhibit has been air-conditioned, possibly to house another New Zealand native in the near future.

How did Jurong Bird Park obtain their Morepork (Ninox novaeseelandiae)? Were they imported from New Zealand?

@Zooish I remember a totally different species that was actually intended to be housed here, not from New Zealand but from Australia. Not sure if that plan fell through or not.

@UngulateNerd92 - they are actually Boobooks, and WRS is using a confused common name-versus-scientific name-versus-splits, the same as with the zoo's confused naming of "Buru Babirusa". Some of the owls were imported from Europe (I think the Netherlands from memory) and some were obtained from local aviculturists.

@BucerosKeeper if you're referring to Tasmanian Devils, an entirely new exhibit is being constructed for them at the end of the Wallaby Trail (where part of the Red River Hog exhibit used to be). They are supposed to arrive sometime this year, subject to the new exhibit being completed and the virus situation abating.

Did not know that news was made public, haha

They were intended to be placed in the now-Morepork exhibit from my memory. Good to hear that a totally new exhibit is being built instead.
