I can't really tell what that cat in the bottom left of the photo is. It has immense biceps but is extremely thin and has a cheetah's mane on the shoulders, but the pelage is recognisably that of a leopard. But it is killing a rabbit, which would be a favourite prey of the cheetah, not really the leopard. The shape is that of a cheetah apart from the limbs. the face looks like a leopard's and the pelage is a leopard's. Does anyone know which of the two this animal is actually meant to be?
@amur leopard I think it is probably just a case of bad taxidermy. Usually the modelling / sculpting of the muscles and sinew is done using a claw material before mounting the skin and it looks like this process was done very badly and without any real idea of the leopard's anatomy.
@amur leopard@Onychorhynchus coronatus It is indeed an Amur leopard, collected in Huadian, Jilin Province in 1915. The age of the mount explains why it is poorly done.
