How difficult is it to see this kind of variety of birdlife in the US? I'm jealous. I live in possibly the least biodiverse city on Earth! :D
 
@amur leopard Well Hammonasset is right on the coastline and therefore is home to a much wider variety of cool birds than much of the rest of Connecticut. That said, catbirds and blackbirds are both readily seen throughout the entire state come springtime.

I've never associated Texas with wetlands but of course now that I think about it, it is logical that they should given they border Louisiana. Funnily, I always think of vast deserts with cacti and no set name rather than hardwood and mesquite forests and swamps :D
 
@amur leopard a lot of Central American birds occur in southern Texas as their northernmost range. Similarly, the CT coastline often serves as the northernmost range of many more Southern US species, such as ibis and Little Blue Heron.
