The final of the dolphin show "Life" in Kolmården in 2014. After a massive thunderstorm caused by climate change, a fire caused by a lightning strike and effluent of poison into the water (see my other pictures) the planet is finally saved by the dolphins and trainers.
"Life" had premiere in 2013 and lasted until 2019. 1st of May 2020 a new show called "Hope" was planned to have premiere but has been postponed due to the coronavirus. "Life" was about environmental change. The music was 15 motion picture soundtracks recorded by the local Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, creating a really powerful background to the show. Some examples of movies where the soundtracks come from are Superman, ET, James Bond, Titanic, Pirates of the Caribbean and the Lion King. During the final of the show, the Swedish version of "Circle of Life" called "En värld full av liv" was sung by the famous Swedish singer Martin Stenmarck. The final of the show was really powerful!
When "Life" had premiere in 2013 the dolphinarium was rebuilt with the large screen seen in the background, providing a shifting background during the show. A gas powered fire was also installed to simultate that a lightning strike on the screen caused a fire. Already before the reconstruction the dolphinarium had a water curtain from the ceiling and advanced light and sound systems. A new computerized control room was also installed during the reconstruction.
In 2013 and 2014 the show was really good, I would say World-class. Unfortunately, from 2015 it was only crap compared to what had been before. This originates from a completely change in training methods at the end of 2014. The head dolphin trainer was replaced by a new one that implemented the new system. Almost all other trainers were also replaced by new ones. From what I've seen, it seems that the new trainers can't control the dolphins in the same way during the shows as the old ones could. It seems that the tight relation between dolphins and trainers that was before had been completely erased
