Thank you! Do you know what has happened to the abdomen? I was rather curious about it when I took it. Is a juvenile or something?

@amur leopard The abdomen can look very flat in this species. Juvenile flies are larvae, so any flying fly you see will be an adult.

Is there no variation in size/colour/wingspan among adults at different ages? Of course they have relatively short lifespans, but are they instantly fully-grown when they emerge from the pupa?
