Wow! I've never seen a wild beaver but I have seen a beaver lodge in Scotland. They didn't come out because apparently they are more active at night?

Are they common in the Netherlands or is their range patchy?
 
@amur leopard Beavers were extinct in the Netherlands until re-introduction about 32 years ago. For years they remained restricted to the main areas of re-introduction. but over the past 10 years numbers have exploded and they are colonizing large parts of the country. They are nocturnal so not very easy to see still, unless one knows where the entrance to their burrow is and one is patient until sunset...
 
@lintworm Well it is good news that they are thriving because it suggests a similar project could and should be undertaken over here where their presence is gravely needed, along with lynx wolves, bears etc.
