Thanks for all of these great photos of the new development at Zurich Zoo. As impressive as the main savanna is, I really like the look of the indoor rhino and giraffe enclosures. There is a strong sense of naturalism in the design of the exhibits.
I think the indoors is really well done, generously spaced, and the rockwork is a big improvement over the elephant park (though there is never any doubt that the rockwork might be real). The greenery makes it a very pleasant indoor enclosure with quite a natural feel to it. It is however smaller and less spectacular in real life than it looks on pictures. With the outdoor enclosure, the exact opposite is true, it feels more captivating in real life than on pictures. Unlike the elephant park, the main attraction of the Lewa development, imo, is most definitely the outdoor enclosure. The sheer space and quite complex structure had the animals constantly on the move and active, shifting around the outdoor enclosure doing things.
