I was amazed to see a scuffle between their Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo (Glen) and their Red-legged Pademelon (Patrick). A keeper was cleaning out the pademelon enclosure and she let the pademelon into the tree kangaroo enclosure. The pademelon immediately hopped towards the tree kangaroo and began to claw at its tail. The tree kangaroo then climbed down and they began boxing, clawing and kicking at each other. After five minutes or so, the keeper finally managed to separate the pair.

I never thought of tree kangaroos as the type that would get into such a lowly brawl, but now I come to think about it, getting clawed by one must be pretty painful given the size of them. This picture looks especially like the tree kangaroo is throwing the pademelon! Intriguing photos.

Are the tree kangaroos particularly fast-moving when they need to be? They've always either been sleeping or slowing crawling along branches when I've seen them...
