@amur leopard Both Broad-billed Hummingbird and Elegant Trogon are Central American species that only barley reach into the US with the mountains of southeast Arizona as their northern range limit.
There were a lot of broad-billed hummingbirds at my feeder, so I would say at least in Madera Canyon they are common. The elegant trogon is less common but is reliable during the summer months in Madera Canyon. Their call is loud and distinctive (one of the only bird calls I know), so it's a matter of getting up early and following the call. I posted a full trip report here: Trip Report: Madera Canyon, Arizona
In the interest of full disclosure, I should note the harsh sunlight and shadows were horrendous on the hummingbirds and I processed this image almost beyond recognition compared to the original camera jpeg. (This includes removing the feeder in Photoshop Elements).
