monkey cages, Alma Park Zoo

rhesus macaques to the left and hamadryas baboons to the right. Photo taken 1 June 2008
They do keep Hamadryas for research in Australia, and I doubt they are bred in massive cages, or even cages as big as this.

It's about time that the cages are upgraded. I haven't been to Alma for a while but these always depressed me.

As of last week the cages still haven't chaned. Two baby baboons. Also spider monkeys.

Luckily for the baboons the zoo is moving to a brand new location so they will be getting brand new exhibits, and a bit more sunlight ;).
