Habitat Africa: The Savannah - African Painted Dog Exhibit

Those pavers are still one of the most ridiculous additions to an exhibit out there aesthetics-wise. (If it ain't broke, don't break it.) However, if they serve a purpose like aiding in drainage, then it would make more sense. That being said, couldn't the pavers be replaced by a riverbank of sorts or something more immersive that would truly bring back the full predator/prey immersion and also help with maintenance/drainage?

I completely agree that the addition of the pavers really defaced the naturalistic look of the exhibit. However, back whenever the pavers were added (2013isj) I believe it was requested that the zoo adjust the barriers for the exhibit to make them more secure. That’s why the moat was changed from a natural slope to this, and the fence was moved back a couple feet.Still, some simulated Riverbanks would look a whole lot better.
