Pyxis planicauda / Flat-Backed Spider Tortoise

Always hiding whenever I come by .... :(
Historically, due to the reduced concentration of grazing/browsing megafauna in the dry, deciduous forests of Madagascar's west coast, P. planicauda did not require the need for enhanced pyramiding across their carapaces, unlike their relatives, P. arachnoides and Astrochelys spp.

Residing in a mixed-species vivarium, alongside Nosy Be panther chameleons (Furcifer pardalis) and Henkel's leaf-tailed geckos (Uroplatus henkeli).
