@Arizona Docent you definitely should! It is one of the few places where you can find the federally endangered ray-finned fish species, the Little Colorado spinedace (Lepidomeda vittata).
I have two weeks vacation at end of September and am tentatively planning an Arizona Road Trip, which will include my first visit to White Mountains and possibly this site.
@Arizona Docent awesome! You should definitely visit. I look forward to hearing your thoughts if you end up visiting. If you can, I would also recommend visiting Sipe White Mountain State Wildlife Area, White Mountain Grasslands State Wildlife Area, and the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest. Another recommendation would be to drive right across the state line into Cibola County, New Mexico and visit El Malpais National Monument and Conservation Area and El Morro National Monument.
